Know the best time to study and optimize your time
Regardless of the activity you need to do, you must have already noticed that you can do more in a certain period of the day, right? While some people are able to solve multiple demands during the day, others are more agile and productive at night.
However, despite your personal ability, have you ever wondered what is the best period to study? Day, afternoon or night?
In today’s post! In it, we will indicate the advantages and disadvantages of studying at night or during the day, and we will also share some tips for studying with quality at any time of the day! Check out:
What is the best time to study?
First, before evaluating the negative and positive points that we will point out below, consider your own personality.
Remember that, in the introduction, we commented that each person performs better in a certain period of the day? This, therefore, is the first aspect to be evaluated before defining a study schedule.
Furthermore, it is important to bear in mind the routine itself and see what adaptations are necessary and possible to make this practice efficient and effective.
Study during the day
In order for studying in the morning to have a good performance, it is important to ensure a good night’s sleep. Otherwise, you will feel drowsy, inattentive and unmotivated, not absorbing all the necessary content. Ideally, you should sleep at least eight hours a night, so you’ll wake up as soon as the alarm clock goes off, without difficulty or having to activate the “snooze” button for another five minutes.
In addition, having a reinforced breakfast with adequate nutrients is essential to provide you with all the energy you need to perform during the study period.
This moment to eat, before starting the learning journey, is also important for your body to “wake up” completely and for you to feel more alert and prepared.
However, if you are still studying or are taking a preparatory course for the entrance exam, this may be a time in your routine that is already filled. In addition, both in the morning and in the afternoon, your home may be busier and external noises, from other buildings, may become sources of distraction. Therefore, also consider your neighborhood, in case it is noisy.
Study in the afternoon
Let’s say, then, that you have class in the morning and you’ve decided that the best time to study is in the afternoon. How do you manage to perform after lunch, when the desire to take a nap seems impossible to deal with?
Know that resting after a meal is not prohibited. Therefore, on study days in the afternoon, avoid eating heavy food and try to take a half-hour break before starting the study day. This moment of rest will also prove to be interesting to recharge the energies that were spent during the morning.
And, as soon as you wake up, do some physical activity, which will increase your mood and eliminate drowsiness once and for all. Another tip is to drink plenty of water, as in addition to hydrating you, it will help you stay awake.
Study at night
Nighttime is usually the quietest, which makes it a great candidate for the best time to study. On the other hand, depending on the time you woke up and the activities carried out throughout the day, you may feel more tired.
Therefore, just like other schedules, you need to prepare to ensure that your study time is productive.
However, some research points out that studying before bed helps the brain to be able to learn the contents better, thus forming new memories.
In order not to force your vision and your performance, you need to adopt some tactics to make this study schedule suitable. First, define what topics will be studied each day, so you don’t go beyond your limits. By the way, know how to recognize the signals that your body gives off, as it is trying to warn you that you are overloading yourself.
If you are only able to study at night, an alternative is to leave content that you think is more complicated or more difficult for the weekends. That way, you’ll have more time available to dedicate to them.
How to study well at any time?
If you have a busy routine and want to be able to study with quality at any time, carefully check the guidelines that we list below:
- ensure that the ambient lighting is adequate, be it natural (during the day) or artificial (during the night);
- always keep your posture upright and have a place to study with adequate furniture that does not cause any type of indisposition;
- if possible, establish a routine , always studying at the same time, as this helps you to make this practice a habit;
- if you realize that the time you study is not being productive, try to study at another time of the day and observe the results achieved;
- no matter what time you go to study: sleep quality should always be a priority. Don’t trade day for night and don’t sleep late and wake up early. You will be harming your health by doing this;
- create a study schedule and try to follow it strictly;
- Invest in different study methods to make learning more dynamic and productive.
We know that each person has a routine and, because of that, it is not always possible to study during the period when you are most productive. Therefore, follow these guidelines and thus be able to make any moment, according to your demands, the best time to study.
